A ternary quantum-dot cellular automaton implementing the function AND(x, NOT(x)). A ternary quantum-dot cell comprises four quantum dots and contains two electrons. It is capable of representing four distinct states and three logic values 0, ½ and 1. The simulation sequence displays the dynamics of the automaton while evaluating the function for the input logic value ½. The computed output value is ½.
